Another Ukrainian company begins biomethane exports

Teofipol Energy Company exported its own biomethane for the first time in August 2026, according to ExPro sources.

In early 2026, the company commissioned Ukraine's largest biomethane plant in Khmelnytskyi region, with a design capacity of around 56 mcm per year. The facility is directly connected to the gas transmission system.

According to ExPro's information, the company exported a small volume of biomethane to Hungary in August, around 45 tcm. The gaseous biomethane was delivered through Ukraine's gas transmission system.

The buyer in Hungary was ERU Europe. Market participants estimate that the biomethane may have been priced at around $1,000/tcm.

The company is expected to continue exporting its own biomethane in September, with volumes potentially rising to 200 tcm. ExPro estimates that the company produces around 1.4 - 2.8 mcm of biomethane per month.

Teofipol Energy Company thus became the fifth Ukrainian company to export biomethane and the fourth to export gaseous biomethane through pipelines.

As ExPro previously reported, Ukrainian companies exported more than 11.2 mcm of gaseous biomethane from their own production in 2025.

Biomethane exports began in February 2025, with Vitagro making the first shipments. MHP and Gals Agro also exported gaseous biomethane.

Two Ukrainian companies also export liquefied biomethane (bio-LNG): MHP and UM Liquid Gas.
