Orlen to supply Naftogaz with three LNG cargoes in Q1 2027

Naftogaz Group and Poland's Orlen have signed a memorandum providing for the supply of three LNG cargoes in Q1 2027, Naftogaz's press service reported.

The parties did not disclose the LNG volume. Three standard cargoes could total around 210,000 - 220,000 tons of LNG, equivalent to approximately 290 - 300 mcm of natural gas after regasification. The estimate is based on Orlen's previous deliveries to Naftogaz, with each cargo typically providing Ukraine with around 100 mcm of gas. In particular, the three cargoes agreed for Q1 2026 were equivalent to more than 300 mcm.

The additional gas is intended to meet peak seasonal demand. The new memorandum does not specify the LNG's origin, receiving terminals, transportation routes to Ukraine, prices, or delivery schedule. The supplies will likely come from Orlen's global portfolio, which consists primarily of US LNG purchases.

"With Russian attacks on our domestic production facilities continuing, reliable sources of gas supply and diversified delivery routes are especially important to us," said Naftogaz acting CEO Sergii Fedorenko.

A separate memorandum between Orlen and Ukrnafta provides for supplies of petroleum products to the Ukrainian market worth up to $500 million. The parties will also explore supplying Ukrainian crude oil to refineries in Central Europe. Another potential area of cooperation is the transfer of used fuel tanker trucks to Ukrnafta to transport petroleum products.

"Strengthening our partnership with Naftogaz helps create additional opportunities to diversify supplies and enhance the resilience of the region's energy system. We see this as a long-term partnership that serves the interests of both companies," said Orlen CEO and management board chairman Ireneusz Fąfara.

Under the cooperation launched in 2025, Orlen has already supplied Naftogaz with more than 600 mcm of gas derived from US LNG. Another more than 300 mcm was delivered in Q1 2026, bringing the total to around 900 mcm.
