Monthly cross-border capacity auctions launched on JAO

Monthly auctions for the allocation of cross-border interconnection capacity for January 2026 have started on the JAO platform. This is evidenced by the auction schedules, as reported in the ExPro Electricity Daily issue dated 15.12.2025.

The auctions started on December 15 and will run until December 17.

Only capacities for imports from European Union countries are available:

• From Slovakia – 172 MW
• From Hungary – 460 MW
• From Romania – 172 MW

“Long-term auctions for the allocation of cross-border interconnection capacity are something that will definitely benefit the Ukrainian electricity market. In the context of massive Russian attacks on our energy system, confidence in stable electricity imports every following month is very much needed. We are grateful to our partners from ENTSO-E and the JAO auction platform, as well as colleagues from the transmission system operators of neighboring EU countries, for effective cooperation. We hope it will continue, and that annual auctions will also be introduced in the future,” said Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Management Board of NPC Ukrenergo.
