Naftogaz and Orlen sign memorandum on LNG cooperation
Naftogaz Group and Poland’s Orlen have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the LNG sector. The document was signed on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference URC-2026 in Gdańsk.
Under the agreement, the companies will analyse opportunities to expand LNG trading. In particular, the memorandum covers the potential joint or coordinated use of regasification and transmission infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe.
“We want to use our experience in LNG, trading, infrastructure access and the energy transition to support not only current gas supplies, but also the development of a more modern, diversified and resilient energy system in Ukraine. Reconstruction should mean not just rebuilding what has been destroyed, but creating solutions that will strengthen the security of Ukraine and Central and Eastern Europe for decades to come,” Orlen CEO Ireneusz Fąfara said.
The companies also plan to identify commercial and logistics opportunities that could simplify LNG supplies to Ukraine, increase supply flexibility and strengthen the energy security of Ukraine and the wider region.
“Amid the ongoing war, reliable, flexible and diversified gas supplies remain critical for Ukraine’s energy security. The agreement signed today continues our cooperation with Orlen and creates a basis for further steps aimed at strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system,” Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi added.

Cooperation between Orlen and Naftogaz
Orlen is already actively supplying natural gas to Ukraine. In 2025, the Polish company sold around 700 mcm of gas to Ukraine under short-term contracts. In 2026, Orlen planned to increase gas sales to Ukraine to more than 1 bcm.
Poland is gradually strengthening its role in gas supplies to Central and Eastern Europe due to access to LNG infrastructure and the development of regional gas transportation routes.
