D.Trading imports US LNG to the Netherlands
D.Trading, the European trading arm of DTEK Group, has delivered US LNG to the Gate terminal in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, ExPro reports.
The delivery marks another step in the expansion of D.Trading’s LNG portfolio and diversification of gas supply sources for European markets. The company notes that LNG is playing an increasingly important role in Europe’s gas balance amid reduced reliance on traditional pipeline imports.
According to Daniel Hacki, European Commercial Director at D.Trading, LNG allows the company to optimize its positions across several European markets at the same time, combining access to global supply sources, infrastructure and trading opportunities.
“Flexibility is the defining feature of LNG. It allows us to balance portfolios, optimize supply routes and respond to market signals in real time,” Hacki said at ETCSEE.

The company is developing an integrated approach to gas procurement, transportation, storage and trading, enabling it to flexibly direct resources between different European markets.
D.Trading LNG
D.Trading is gradually increasing its activity in the LNG market. In 2024, DTEK agreed with the US company Venture Global on LNG supplies from the Plaquemines LNG project until the end of 2026, as well as on the purchase of up to 2 million tons of LNG (2.76 bcm) per year from the future CP2 LNG project for 20 years.
At the end of 2024, D.Trading received its first LNG cargo from the US via the Greek Revithoussa terminal. After regasification, the gas was transported to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan route through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova.
In November 2025, D.Trading imported its first US LNG via Lithuania’s Klaipėda terminal. The cargo, equivalent to around 100 mcm of gas after regasification, was delivered from the Plaquemines plant in Louisiana by the GasLog Houston tanker. It was the company’s first FOB delivery of US LNG.
