Ukraine sharply reduced the import of electricity due to the absence of a deficit in the energy system

Ukraine has sharply reduced electricity imports, because domestic generation is able to ensure consumption. On February 16, the lowest volume of imports from Slovakia since the beginning of February was recorded - 150 MWh.

According to ExPro data, almost 133.2 thousand MWh were imported from Slovakia in February (February 1-16). We will remind you that Ukraine has started importing electricity from Moldova.

During February 5-16, more than 3 thousand MWh were imported in this direction.

"D.Trading" remains the largest importer in both directions.

"Ukraine is able to cover consumption with its own resources, and this has led to a decrease in electricity imports in recent days. This is natural, because European electricity is more expensive than Ukrainian electricity. But, if there is a cooling, an increase in consumption, or other factors that will lead to the fact that the Ukrainian energy system will not have enough capacity, imports can be restored. It will once again become an additional safety factor for the Ukrainian energy system. We will always have this trump card up our sleeve," Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, chairman of the board of NPC Ukrenergo, said during a briefing on the state of the energy system on February 16.
