The Government appoints a new Supervisory Board of Naftogaz

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed a renewed Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, consisting of six members, including four independent directors and two state representatives. The appointment was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

According to her, the appointments were made based on the nomination committee’s submission. The selection process was conducted in line with a competitive procedure.

The independent international members are Robert Schlesinger, Erik Rasmussen, Duncan Nightingale, and Tor Martin Anfinnsen, all of whom have extensive experience in the energy sector.

  • Robert Schlesinger (Poland) is an expert in corporate governance and energy.
  • Erik Rasmussen (Denmark) specialises in energy and infrastructure financing, including work at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He was involved in corporate governance reform of Ukrainian state-owned enterprises, including Naftogaz of Ukraine.
  • Duncan Nightingale (Canada) focuses on operational management of production and the development of energy assets. He previously chaired the Supervisory Board of Ukrnafta, where he implemented OECD corporate governance practices.
  • Tor Martin Anfinnsen (Norway) held senior positions at Norwegian energy major Equinor. As a current member of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, he ensures continuity of governance and the implementation of European standards.

The state representatives on the Supervisory Board are:

  • Anna Artemenko — Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.
  • Kostiantyn Marievych — State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (reappointed member of the Board).

According to Svyrydenko, the renewal of supervisory boards across the energy sector is also being finalised, including at Centrenergo, Ukrainian Distribution Networks, Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo, and the GTS Operator of Ukraine, among others.
