Zaporizhzhia NPP Exits Blackout

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has exited its tenth full blackout following the restoration of power supply. This was reported by Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk.

Power supply to the plant was restored thanks to the completion of repairs on the 750 kV "Dniprovska" transmission line. Repair works are currently ongoing on the 330 kV "Ferosplavna" line.

For an entire month, the ZNPP operated solely on emergency diesel generators, which posed a serious threat to nuclear and radiation safety. The blackout was caused by shelling by Russian occupation forces, who systematically damage power lines connecting the plant to Ukraine’s unified energy system.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian energy workers have restored power supply to the plant 42 times.
