Yuriy Tkachuk starts work as CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya

Yuriy Tkachuk started work as CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya, a company of the Naftogaz Group, on December 26, 2025. Tkachuk is currently being introduced to the staff of the company’s head office, ExPro sources at Ukrgasvydobuvannya reported.

As ExPro reported earlier, Tkachuk’s candidacy for the position of head of Ukrgasvydobuvannya was approved in mid-December.

Serhii Lahno, who served as acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya, will return to the position of chief engineer of the company, which he held before being appointed acting head.

Before his appointment at Ukrgasvydobuvannya, Yuriy Tkachuk headed another state-owned upstream company, Ukrnafta. On December 25, Tkachuk completed his work at Ukrnafta, announcing this on his personal social media pages.

“Today I am completing my work at Ukrnafta and would like to sincerely thank everyone I had the honor to work with over the past three years. This was a difficult and responsible stage — both for the company and for me personally. Throughout this time, Ukrnafta operated under the conditions of a full-scale war, performing a critical role for the economy and the country’s energy security,” Tkachuk said.

Who is Yuriy Tkachuk?

Yuriy Tkachuk has extensive experience working in various structures of the Naftogaz Group. After Sergii Koretskyi joined Ukrnafta in 2022, Yuriy Tkachuk became the company’s CFO.

In May 2025, Yuriy Tkachuk was appointed acting Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrnafta following Koretskyi’s transition to Naftogaz. Tkachuk headed Ukrnafta until December 16, 2025, after which Bohdan Kukura was appointed as the new CEO.

Who headed UGV?

Before Tkachuk, Serhii Lahno served as acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya from June 2025. Before his appointment, Lahno was Chief Engineer of UGV. More details on his work are available in an exclusive ExPro interview from December 2024.

From January 2023 to mid-2024, Ukrgasvydobuvannya was headed by Oleh Tolmachov, who previously served as Director for Exploration and Production at the Naftogaz Group.

From May 2022 to January 2023, Oleksandr Romaniuk headed Ukrgasvydobuvannya. Notably, all three served as acting CEOs of UGV.

Thus, Tkachuk became the first full-fledged CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya since Olena Kobets, who led the company in 2020–2022.
