The share of RES in the spot market segments in Ukraine reached almost 15% in February

The share of "green" electricity sold on the Ukrainian day-ahead and intraday market reached 14.8% in February 2023. The largest part, more than 30%, of the electricity sold at DAM/IDM was produced from natural gas, another 19.4% - at hydroelectric power plants.

As reported in ExPro a month ago, 13% of all electricity sold on the day-ahead and intraday market in January 2023 was produced from renewable energy sources. Electricity generated from natural gas then took 22%, and from nuclear fuel - 31%.

The amount of imported electricity sold in the DAM/IDM decreased sharply in February compared to the previous month - from 641.8 MWh to 29.2 MWh.

According to ExPro data, Ukraine imported a total of 141.8 thousand MWh in February 2023, of which 96% was supplied from Slovakia.

According to NPC "Ukrenergo", electricity from hydroelectric power plants and gas power plants took the largest share in sales on the balancing market in February - 46.6%, in the second position - electricity from natural gas (30.6%) and electricity from coal (14.5%).

At the same time, according to ExPro Electricity Monthly, for the whole of 2022, the share of hydropower in the balancing market was 45.6%, electricity from coal - 30.2%, and electricity from natural gas - 17.9%.

Reference ExPro, the day-ahead market, the intraday market and the balancing market are smaller segments of the electricity market. The largest segment is the market of bilateral contracts, which occupies about 70%.
