Tacrom performs foam hydraulic fracturing in Ukraine
Oilfield service company Tacrom performs foam hydraulic fracturing operations in Ukraine, the so-called "Foam Frac". This is reported on the website of the company last week and in our periodicals for subscribers EXPRO Gas&Oil Daily PROCUREMENT and EXPRO Gas&Oil Weekly
Over the past 8 months, eight Foam Frac operations were carried out in the wells, located in Western Ukraine.
Foam Frac is a technology where foam is used as a hydraulic fracturing fluid. This method has great advantages over conventional hydraulic fracturing in conditions of low reservoir permeability, low bottom-hole pressure, and water sensitivity formations.
Advantages of Foam Fracturing compared to Conventional Fracturing:
- Reduced amount of water pumped during frac operation, therefore less damage for water-sensitive formations;
- Frac fluid system is compatible with low salinity brines. Sweet water consumption can be reduced to zero;
- Much less chemicals are used during the frac operation;
- Higher proppant placement efficiency (for the same amount of proppant - water volume can be decreased by 70%);
- Combined with Tacrom's Tree Saver (Wellhead isolation tool) no Work Over operations are required for wellhead or tubing replacement post frac;
- Higher Fracture Conductivity due to using Cleaner Fracturing Fluids which do not build any filter cake in fracture.
Recall that Tacrom has recently reported on joint work with the Beiken Chinese Drilling Company, in particular, cleaning the well using coiled tubing equipment during drilling in the Poltava region. The work was carried out at the Sarska section of the Kharkivtsivske field in the Poltava region, commissioned by the Ukrainian Drilling Company.
The company also said that it works all over Ukraine, in the East and West where over the past three months, it has performed seven hydraulic fracturing operations (conventional and foam).
