State trader "EСU" returned UAH 500 million to "Energoatom"

The state energy trader "Energy Company of Ukraine" returned financial aid in the amount of UAH 500 million to "Energoatom". This was reported in the press service of "EСU" on December 29.

"The state energy trader JSC "Energy Company of Ukraine" returned UAH 500 million to "Energoatom". financial assistance in accordance with the terms of the contract. JSC "EСU" started commercial activity in the most competitive segment of the energy sector - energy trading from August 2022," the company said. The head of "EСU" Vitaly Butenko also commented on the results of this year for the company.

"As a result, the state received a competitive trading company that has demonstrated its effectiveness on the domestic and foreign markets of energy resources. We also created the first state balancing group with the participation of Energoatom to optimize the work of state generation. We have strengthened the state's position in export areas," Butenko said. The company's work in 2022 provided a reliable foundation for strengthening the state's competitive position on the domestic and foreign energy markets, which we will develop in 2023."

According to ExPro Electricity Monthly, EСU exported 38,400 MWh to Romania and 50,200 MWh to Slovakia in September, becoming the largest exporter in these directions. In October, before the export closure (October 11, 2022), the state trader managed to deliver 13.5 thousand MWh to Romania and 15.6 thousand MWh to Slovakia. Also, from October 1, "EСU" shared equally with "DTEK Zahidenergo" the export of electricity to Poland, 26.4 thousand MWh each. Already in November, the company carried out "test imports" from the countries of the European Union.

As previously reported in ExPro, Energoatom provided UAH 500 million in financial assistance to the state energy trader EСU in the summer of this year, with a repayment deadline of December 31, 2022.
