Since the beginning of the year, more than 2.5 bcm of gas have been injected into the Ukrainian UGS

Since the beginning of this year's injection season, about 2.53 bcm of natural gas have been injected into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (as of July 19). This is reported by the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, which is confirmed by ExPro calculations.

These indicators correspond to the level of last year. According to Naftogaz, as of July 19, 11.7 bcm of natural gas are stored in Ukrainian storage facilities. However, ExPro calculations show that about 11.2 bcm are currently stored in storage.

"In general, the preparation of gas reserves for next winter is going according to plan, besides, in July we injected in even more gas than expected," Oleksiy Chernyshov noted.

The increase in the volume of gas injection in July relates to the rise in the activity of foreign and Ukrainian companies that inject natural gas into the "customs warehouse" of the Ukrainian UGS.

He also added that this is a good result, considering that gas consumption in 2Q2023 increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2022.

"The increase in gas consumption is caused by many factors, including the gradual recovery of our country's economy. But, as we can see from the available data, we still manage to achieve all the set goals within the framework of preparations for the next winter," added Oleksiy Chernyshov.
