Sergiy Koretskyi is elected as the new Naftogaz's board chairman (Updated)
The Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine has elected Sergiy Koretskyi as the new chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, ExPro sources report.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Supervisory Board on April 28. According to ExPro Gas&Oil Weekly, Sergiy Koretskyi and Oleh Prokhorenko, who previously headed Ukrgazvydobuvannya and is best known for the 20/20 production stimulation program, made it to the final stage of the selection process.

On the morning of April 29, the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz officially confirmed the election of Sergiy Koretskyi as the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz. He will take office on May 14, 2025. According to Nataliya Boyko, a representative of the Supervisory Board, the long list consisted of 62 candidates, of whom 7 were shortlisted. As noted, two candidates made it to the final stage.
"Mr. Koretskyi has the unanimous support and assistance of the Supervisory Board. We look forward to working with him in realizing the full potential of Naftogaz of Ukraine and in fulfilling the Company's important role for the Ukrainian economy," the Supervisory Board said in a statement.
Who is Sergiy Koretskyi?
Sergiy Koretskyi has been the head of the country's largest oil company, Ukrnafta PJSC, since November 2022. Koretskyi took over Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta PJSC after the shares of the companies were forcibly transferred to the Ministry of Defense.

Sergiy Koretskyi started his professional career as a junior analyst at Continuum Group (since 1999), rising to the position of CEO of the management company of Continuum Group (since 2007). Since 2013, he has been developing the business of the WOG filling station chain as CEO. In the same year, he became a junior partner of WOG. Since 2018, he has been running his own business.
Previous CEOs of Naftogaz
As a reminder, at a meeting on December 4, the Supervisory Board elected Roman Chumak, a member of the Board, as the interim Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz. Before that, Mr. Chumak was the CFO of Naftogaz Group.
At a meeting on December 3, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Oleksiy Chernyshov of Naftogaz as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. Chernyshov has been the head of Naftogaz since November 2022, when he replaced Yuriy Vitrenko.
