Chernyshov from Naftogaz appointed Vice Prime Minister, Minister of National Unity of Ukraine

At a meeting on December 3, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Oleksiy Chernyshov of Naftogaz as Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. This was reported by MPs Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Oleksiy Honcharenko. There were 237 votes in favor.

Before this, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and International Relations at its meeting on December 3, 2024, considered the submission of the Prime Minister of Ukraine on the appointment of Oleksiy Chernyshov to the post of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.

Based on its consideration, the Committee recommended that the Verkhovna Rada appoint Oleksiy Chernyshov to the position of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine—Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.

The corresponding draft law No. 12279 of December 3, 2024, also appeared on the Verkhovna Rada website. The draft law was initiated by MP Andriy Zadorozhnyi from the Sluha narodu (Servant of the People) party.

The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Oleksiy Chernyshev as the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine on November 3, 2022. Before that, Oleksiy Chernyshev was the Minister of Community and Territorial Development for 2.5 years.

Candidates

The next head of Naftogaz is to be elected by the company's Supervisory Board after a competition. According to media reports, the current head of Ukrnafta, Sergiy Koretsky, may be a candidate.
