Norway provides €85 million grant for gas purchases by Naftogaz through EBRD
Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC has signed another grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for €85 million to finance natural gas purchases. This was announced by Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi.
The grant is provided by the Government of Norway and will be used to procure additional volumes of imported gas to partially offset the decline in domestic production caused by Russian attacks.

On January 22, the Ministry of Economy reported that Ukraine’s uncovered financing needs for natural gas imports for February-March 2026 amount to $100 million.
It should be recalled that following the massive shelling of gas production facilities in October-November 2025, domestic gas output declined significantly.
As previously reported by ExPro, Ukraine increased its natural gas imports to 6.47 bcm in 2025, the highest level in the past five years.
