At its meeting on December 13, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sector (NEURC) approved the draft resolution "On approval of the procedure for the certification of gas storage operators", the press service of the NEURC reports.
The procedure is designed to implement the international obligations of Ukraine, as a party to the Energy Community, which require each member state to ensure the certification of the gas storage operator by the state-authorized body with the participation of EU bodies in order to comply with the requirements for preventing risks to the security of natural gas supply.
The procedure for carrying out the certification procedure of the gas storage operator determines, among other things, the list of documents, data, and information provided by the economic entity that submits a request for certification, and the certification procedure.
The draft resolution has the characteristics of a regulatory act, therefore, in accordance with the established procedure and considering the short terms during which the certification of the gas storage operator must be carried out, it will be published on the official website of the NEURC for the purpose of receiving comments and suggestions.
"The approval of this document is an important step in the process of certification of the gas storage operator, which will ensure the fulfillment of Ukraine's international obligations, will create conditions for the prevention of risks for the safety of the supply of natural gas to consumers," - noted in the NEURC.
It should be noted that the only operator of UGS in Ukraine is Ukrtransgaz JSC, which, according to the adopted Procedure, will be able to undergo the certification procedure on par with European storage operators.
