Natural gas imports for injection into Ukrainian UGS has increased by 50% since the beginning of August

Natural gas imports to Ukraine have increased by 50% since the beginning of August - up to 38.1 mcm, according to ExPro calculations. This is the highest level in the last three years - since September 2020. All the imported gas is injected into the "customs warehouse" of the Ukrainian UGS, and 20.5 mcm of it using the short-haul service.

Most of the gas comes from Slovakia - 21.9 mcm or 57% of all gas. Also, 7.1 mcm of gas or 19% is supplied from Hungary. Deliveries from Moldova are 5.2 mcm (14%) and from Poland - 4 mcm (10%).

As predicted in ExPro publications, from the beginning of August, foreign and Ukrainian companies became more active, injecting more gas into the "customs warehouse" of Ukrainian UGS.

As of the beginning of August, about 12.27 bcm of natural gas are stored in storage facilities, including about 0.85 bcm in the "customs warehouse".

According to the results of July, the import of gas to Ukraine amounted to 589.3 mcm, of which 586.5 mcm or 99.5% of all imported gas went to the "customs warehouse" of Ukrainian UGS. In general, in 7 months of 2023, Ukraine imported more than 1.8 bcm of natural gas, 2.3 times more than in the same period last year.
