Naftogaz imports LNG via German terminal for the first time in cooperation with TotalEnergies

Naftogaz of Ukraine, in partnership with TotalEnergies, has for the first time secured the supply of U.S. LNG to Ukraine via the German LNG terminal operated by Deutsche ReGas, located on the island of Rügen (Germany) in the Baltic Sea. This was reported by Naftogaz’s press service.

Following regasification at the Deutsche ReGas terminal, Naftogaz will transport the resource by pipeline through Poland to Ukraine.

“We are particularly proud to be the only LNG terminal in Germany financed and operated by private companies, directly contributing to Ukraine’s energy security. This underlines the strategic importance of our location not only in the THE market area, but especially for our neighbours in Central and Eastern Europe,” said Ingo Wagner, CEO of Deutsche ReGas.

“The Naftogaz team is systematically working with our international partners to diversify supply sources and routes in order to ensure stable deliveries for Ukrainian consumers. This new partnership opens a new reliable import route for Ukraine this year, and this agreement is only the first step towards long-term cooperation,” said Serhii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

As previously reported by ExPro, in March, Naftogaz will also receive its first LNG cargo from the United States via Greece in cooperation with the Greek company Atlantic See LNG Trade. The delivery volume amounts to around 75 mcm. In addition, the company imports U.S. LNG via the Polish terminal in cooperation with the Polish company Orlen.
