Moldovan Market Operator Begins Registration of DAM/IDM Participants

The Moldovan energy market operator OPEM has begun the process of registering participants of the organized electricity markets in Moldova, the Day-Ahead Market and the Intraday Market.

“OPEM, the energy market operator of Moldova, on October 27, 2025, began the registration process for participants of the organized electricity markets. This stage marks an important step in the implementation of the platforms managed by OPEM, aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency, and fair competition in the electricity market of the Republic of Moldova,” the Ministry of Energy of Moldova reported.

The registration process is intended for all business entities interested in participating in electricity trading on the markets managed by OPEM.

Why does Moldova need short-term markets?

As noted by the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, the launch of short-term electricity markets is necessary to ensure future integration with neighboring electricity markets and, in particular, integration with the single European DAM and IDM (SDAC and SIDC).

In Moldova, 96 companies are licensed to supply electricity, and only three suppliers are currently active on the competitive unregulated market.
