Ministry of Energy to hold the first tender for gas-piston power plant

In autumn of 2020, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection plans to hold the first tender for the construction of fast-start reserve power generation facilities with gas-piston power plant (GPPP) considered as most appropriate and effective solution.

This was told to the ExPro correspondent May 14, 2020, by the Acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olga Buslavets.

"The first tender is planned for this fall [2020- Ed], so that investors come and build gas-piston power plants that could be an effective solution to handle Ukrainian grid backups," she said. According to Buslavets, gas piston power unit technology is the most in demand in Ukraine.

The technical conditions for the tender will be worked out by the NEC Ukrenergo.
