In March, Moldova will continue to purchase electricity from MdTPP and Nuclearelectrica

The Moldovan state enterprise Energocom extended the electricity purchase agreement with the Moldovan TPP (Transnistria) and the Romanian company SN Nuclearelectrica SA until March 2023.

According to Energocom, Moldova plans to purchase about 244,000 MWh from MdTPP in March at $73/MWh. These amounts make up about 88% of the electricity demand.

Also, Energocom will continue to purchase electricity from the Romanian company SN Nuclearelectrica SA, with a planned import capacity of 30 MW per day and 10 MW at night. In general, in March, the forecast purchase of electricity from SN Nuclearelectrica SA is about 18 thousand MWh (or 6.5% of the required), the estimated price is $91/MWh.

In particular, Moldova plans to continue purchasing about 5% of its electricity needs on the Romanian OPCOM exchange.

As reported in ExPro Electricity Weekly, Ukraine continues to import electricity from Moldova. For the period of February 5-27, the volume of imports in this direction amounted to 5,334 MWh.
