Government shouldn’t delay the privatization of Centrenergo - EBRD

The privatization process doesn’t depend on the election calendar that’s why Ukrainian government shouldn’t put off the privatization of such large state-owned companies like Centrenergo and Odesa Port Plant. Such opinion was worded by Francis Malige, Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus for the EBRD, at the Ukrainian Economy Week organized by Kyiv School of Economics on September 17, 2018.

“I think the privatization and its reform are things that can absolutely be done between now and the elections. They are not depending on the election calendar. There is no reason to delay these things further. What should be done is to hire proper advisors and to organize proper process for such companies like OPZ and Centrenergo… Success of privatization is actually going to bring Ukraine back on investment maps”, noted Mr. Malige.
