G7+ partners will support Ukraine's energy sector for more than $1 billion - Ministry of Energy

The G7+ partners announced more than $1 billion in additional aid to the energy sector following the latest attacks.

This amount includes:

  • more than 70 million euros of new grant contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine,
  • $500 million in new funding from the US to support the energy sector,
  • 300 million euros of additional financing from the EBRD,
  • at least 47 million dollars in additional grants from the World Bank and donations in the form of humanitarian aid from EU member states.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, with reference to the results of the high-level meeting of the G7+ Coordination Group on providing assistance to the energy sector of Ukraine during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024.

As indicated by the Ministry of Energy, international partners made a strong statement in which they condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy and confirmed plans to continue providing assistance to restore the Ukrainian energy sector.

"We, the members of the G7+ Coordination Group on Energy Assistance to Ukraine and the Government of Ukraine, condemn Russia's actions and demand that those involved in these attacks on critical infrastructure, which have a devastating impact on the lives of the civilian population, be brought to justice," the statement said.

The partner countries also noted the importance of ENTSO-E's efforts in increasing electricity exports to Ukraine.
