Energy shortage due to repairs at the NPP will be compensated by TPP production and imports - "Energoatom"

"Energoatom" announced the start of a repair campaign to prepare for the 2023/2024 heating season. According to the nuclear company, the lack of electricity from the production of nuclear power units will be compensated by the inclusion of thermal plants and imports.

This is reported in NNEGC "Energoatom".

"Now is the time to reload the power units with fresh nuclear fuel and carry out planned repair work to ensure their effective operation during the autumn-winter period of 2023-2024. The appropriate schedule was drawn up by Energoatom experts and synchronized with the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and other generating companies in such a way that consumers would not feel the impact of the repair campaign. The lack of electricity from the production of power units will be compensated by the inclusion of thermal stations and imports from abroad," the official statement of the company says.

As noted in "Energoatom", nuclear generation during the 22/23 heating season provided about 55% (and on some days this indicator even reached 65%) of the total electricity consumption in Ukraine. In the winter period, each of the power units, with the exception of Zaporizhzhya NPP, operated at the maximum capacity possible at that time.
