"Energoatom" took about 50% of the total electricity production in Ukraine in 2023
In 2023, Ukrainian nuclear power plants produced a total of more than 52 billion kWh and occupied almost 50% of the structure of electricity production in the country. This was reported by the press service of Energoatom, reports ExPro.
As noted in "Energoatom", domestic nuclear plants exceeded the forecast energy balance by 12.8% and additionally produced about 5 billion kWh of electricity worth UAH 19.5 billion.
"As a result of shortening the terms of planned and preventive works by 66 days, NPPs were able to additionally generate almost 1.4 billion kWh of electricity. As always, repair work was carried out with high quality assurance," said Petro Kotin.
According to ExPro calculations, electricity production at nuclear power plants in Ukraine in 2023 decreased by 16% compared to 2022, which is due to the shutdown of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar. In 2022, the share of nuclear power plants in the generation structure was 54%. As ExPro knows, in 2023 the most electricity was produced at the South Ukrainian NPP, more than 20 billion kWh. The share of SUNPP in the structure of Ukrainian generation reaches 20%.
In general, electricity production in 2023, compared to the previous year, decreased by almost 7%, as evidenced by ExPro calculations.
