Booked capacities for gas imports via Route 1 for December doubled
Companies doubled the booked capacities for importing natural gas from Greece to Ukraine via the joint Route 1 in December, up to 1.2 mcm per day. This is evidenced by the results of the capacity-booking auction held on November 24 on the RBP platform, ExPro reported.
Operators of the Trans-Balkan route offered about 2.2 mcm per day of capacity for December, of which companies booked 1.2 mcm per day, or 60%. These are the highest booking volumes since the route was launched. For comparison, in November, companies booked half as much - 0.6 mcm per day. As ExPro reported, in November, natural gas via this route is being imported by D.Trading, Axpo Ukraine, and Greece’s DEPA Commercial. It is currently unknown who booked the capacities for December, though market participants believe these may again be private companies.
In addition, consultations continue on new routes for supplying natural gas from Greece to Ukraine - Route 2 and Route 3. It was expected that they could be launched by early December, but a more realistic timeline now is early January.
Naftogaz has announced that it agreed with Greece on importing certain gas volumes during the heating season. Gas may be delivered through one of these three joint routes.
According to ExPro estimates, about 18 mcm of natural gas were imported to Ukraine via Route 1 in July-August 2025, and more than 14 mcm have been imported since the beginning of November.
