Belorusneft discovered a new oil field at the Ukrainian border

Belorusneft discovered a new oil field at the Ukrainian border, in Homel region. This is reported by the Company's press service on its website.

According to the report, the field was discovered by well No. 1 of the Skhidno-Izbynska area at a depth exceeding 4,200 m, which is located in the central structural zone of the Pripyat trough. The well was constructed using the Uralmash 3D-76 drilling rig by the Svetlohorsk Drilling Operations Division. The oil inflow from the specified well was 20 tonnes per day.

To study the resource potential of this part of the Pripyat trough, Belorusneft specialists plan to drill 13 exploration and appraisal wells in 2021-2022.

At the same time, Belarusian explorers have already launched large-scale studies in the southern part of the region (Lelchytsky, Narovlyansky, and Yelsky districts bordering the territory of Ukraine).

For the first time in modern Belarus, the volume of field 3D seismic surveys will exceed 1,000 sq. km. which will exceed the scale of works performed in the country over the past quarter of a century. Moreover, in 2023 it is already planned to start construction of the first exploration wells in the Lelchytsky district.
