Ukrtransgaz has started the season of injecting gas into underground storage facilities
Ukrtransgaz JSC, part of the Naftogaz Group, has started this year's season of injecting gas into underground storage facilities (UGS). The Naftogaz press service reported this.
According to the head of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov, this year's withdrawal season was shorter compared to previous years. This is due to favorable weather conditions and a relatively warm winter.
The head of Ukrtransgaz, Roman Malyutin, noted that during the 2022-2023 heating season, even despite the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukrainian undergrounds worked without interruption.
During the withdrawal season, which began on November 7, 2022, 5.572 bcm of natural gas were withdrawn from Ukrainian UGS. As of the beginning of the gas injection season, more than 9 bcm of gas is stored in UGS, according to ExPro calculations. Compared to last year, approximately 125 mcm more gas is stored in UGS. Storagies are 29.2% full.
One may remind, Naftogaz has already started preparations for the next heating season, purchasing natural gas in Europe. According to ExPro, since the beginning of April, Naftogaz's import volume has dropped significantly. Nevertheless, during the gas injection season, the company plans to increase the volume of the resource in UGS to 15 bcm.
