Ukrnafta has successfully drilled a side tracking a well of Velykobubnivske field

Ukrnafta has successfully drilled a side track in one of the wells of the Velykobubnivske field, in Sumy region, and received an inflow of oil with a daily flow rate of more than 60 tons, the company’s press service reports.

According to the report, in January this year, specialists of the drilling department Ukrnafta Drilling and Geological and Exploration Works Office completed drilling of a horizontal sidetrack in a well No. 119G of the Velykobubnivske field. The complexity of the project was conditioned by to the small thickness of the productive horizon (5-6 m), which requires the use of high-tech methods of geological modelling and directional drilling. Currently, the well is being surveyed to determine its production potential and optimal modes of its further operation. According to preliminary results, the initial daily flow rate of well No. 119G is over 60 tons of hydrocarbon fluid.

«At the Velykobubnivske field, our specialists assessed the prospects for oil production from the B-9 and B-10 carbonate horizons of the Bashkirian layers, which had not been considered promising before. The high performance of the new well shows that the potential for production growth in existing fields is far from being exhausted,»

Deputy Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice President for Production and Processing Mauritius Kaluhin said, quoted by the press service.

In January-February 2020, the company increased oil and condensate production by 2.2% to 252.2 thousand tons, and gas production by 3.3 %, to 195.7 million cubic meters, compared to the same period last year
