Ukrnafta conducted 3D seismic surveys over a record area of 629 sq km in 2025

During 2025, Ukrnafta carried out 3D seismic surveys over an area of 629 sq km, a record figure for the company. This was reported by the company’s CEO, Bogdan Kukura.

In total, the company conducted 1,211 sq km of 3D seismic surveys across different regions of Ukraine over the past two years, including 582 sq km in 2024.

In addition to onshore 3D seismic surveys, seismic studies using the polarization method of vertical seismic profiling were carried out at nine wells in 2024–2025, including three wells in 2024 and six wells in 2025.

This method involves seismic measurements conducted directly inside a well, allowing for a more accurate determination of reservoir geological structures and reducing risks when planning new drilling.

“We are consistently studying subsurface resources within our special permits to clearly understand resource placement and to plan further drilling and other technological operations,” Kukura commented.

According to information published in ExPro Gas&Oil Monthly, Ukrnafta actively engaged external contractors to conduct 3D seismic surveys. The largest contractors for Ukrnafta were Unitec, Enterprise LTD, Georozvidka from the ZNS Group, and Oil&Gas Force from the DTEK Group.
