Ukravtogaz will shut down all methane filling stations starting February 1

DP Ukravtogaz (part of the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine ) will shut down all methane filling stations at the petrol filling stations starting February 1, 2022, because of the high price of gas. One may remember the DP Ukravtogaz in December 2021 and in January 2022 to have already partially shut down their CNG filling stations. The price of methane reached a record high UAH 45.90 per cubic meter, due to which gas sales crushed by more than 90%.

According to ExPro, the DP Ukravtogaz has also significantly reduced its purchases of natural gas on the market. In recent years, the company has been buying gas on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEEX). Thus, in January 2022, the DP Ukravtogaz bought only 91 tcm at the sale price of 45 900 UAH/tcm (incl, 20 % VAT). This is the lowest volume in the last two years and the highest price ever paid y the company. Compared to 392 tcm of natural gas bough by the company in December 2021, the volume of monthly procurements of natural gas to the company in January 2022 dropped by almost 4 fold, as a continuation of the 34-fold decline, from 3.1 mcm a month in January 2021 down to the volume bought during January 2022.

In general, in 2021, the company purchased 30 mcm of natural gas, or by 26% less than in 2020 (40.7 mcm). The weighted average purchase price paid by the company last year was at 11 838 UAH/tcm (incl. 20 % VAT), of by 2.7 times higher than in 2020 (4 338 UAH/tcm).

According to the results of 2021, the largest gas supplier of natural gas to the DP Ukravtogaz was the Energy Trade Group LLC, which supplied more than 10.5 mcm totalin the sale value of over UAH 140 million (incl. 20 % VAT).
