Ukraine has set to build 1 GW of new maneuverable generation - Zelensky

Ukraine intends to build up to 1 GW of gas-fired power generation in 2024 and an additional 4 GW in the coming years. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his speech at URC-2024.

"In this field, European and, in particular, German companies are technological leaders. Right in this field, we have a clear plan to build up to 1 gigawatt of capacity already this year. Today and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years," Zelenskyi said at URC-2024.

As Volodymyr Zelenskyy pointed out, effective decentralized, maneuverable gas generation is one of the elements for the normal functioning of Ukraine's energy industry. He added that gas generation is able to solve the issue of energy shortage already today, and tomorrow it will be transferred to water and balance the new "green" energy.
