Ukraine has returned the “Boyko’s drilling rigs” in the Black Sea under control - MID

Ukrainian special forces units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (MID MDU) have returned the so-called "Boiko's rigs" - oil and gas drilling platforms near the shores of Crimea in the Black Sea - to the control of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the MID.

These are the drilling platforms Petro Godovalets and Ukraine, as well as SDR (self-elevating drilling rig) Tavrida and SDR Sivash. Russia occupied them in 2015, and with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, used them for military purposes, as helipads and for the placement of radar equipment.

During the operation, the special forces managed to seize valuable trophies: a stockpile of helicopter ammunition of the UAR type (unguided aerial missiles), as well as the Neva radar, which can track the movement of ships in the Black Sea.

During one of the phases of this operation, a battle took place between Ukrainian special forces on boats and a Russian Su-30 fighter jet. As a result of the battle, the Russian plane was damaged and had to retreat.

One may remind that the drilling rigs belonged to the company Chornomornaftogaz, which is part of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
