Ukraine agreed on 100% of the desired volume of gas at the first EU joint procurement tender

According to the results of the first tender for the joint purchase of gas by EU countries on the AggregateEU platform, it was possible to agree on 100% of the requested volume of gas with delivery to Ukraine. Vice President of the European Commission, Marosh Šefčovych, announced this.

A total of 25 international suppliers offered 13.4 bcm of natural gas in response to the generated joint demand of 11.6 bcm. In total, the first tender managed to agree on 10.9 bcm of natural gas, of which 80% is pipeline gas and 20% - LNG.

Then all tenderers can start negotiations on the gas supply contract. This procedure takes place outside the Aggregate EU mechanism.

"The commission played its role as an aggregator and mediator, and now the relevant parties have to conclude their agreements," said Šefčovych.

Currently, 110 companies participate in the AggregateEU tool, and the number is expected to increase. The companies cover all regions of the EU as well as some countries of the Energy Community and represent all types of gas operators and industrial gas consumers.

One may remind that the Naftogaz of Ukraine has registered on the platform to participate in joint EU gas purchases. Ukraine can purchase up to 2 bcm of natural gas within the framework of EU joint procurement.
