UEEX opens a section on import-export of electricity

The Ukrainian Energy Exchange is launching a direction for cross-border trade in electrical energy, opening an import/export section. This is stated in the message of UEEX.

As indicated in the UEEX press center, the launch of the project is an important step in the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU countries and Moldova in the field of energy, and will also provide expanded opportunities for electricity import on transparent terms already this winter. At the moment, the project is gaining special relevance due to the need to activate commercial imports with a seasonal increase in demand in order to avoid the formation of a deficit in the system.

"For cross-border trade in the import/export of electricity, the algorithm of auctions, which are already familiar to all UEEX participants, will be applied, which are held in the BETS PP in the "Electric power" version, however, the procedure will be governed by a separate Regulation. The trade will take place in the form of a unilateral auction, where the initiators of the position can be both sellers and buyers - residents and non-residents of Ukraine, and the parties to the contracts based on the results of the auctions will be "resident-non-resident" couples. To participate in the auctions, market participants must be accredited by filling out the registration form on the website in the section "Accreditation - Import/Export Section", - the UEEX reported.

Sales schedules of an individual hourly load - block position (BLOCK - execution during the calculation period (hours)/several consecutive calculation periods (hours) of the supply day with the indication of the corresponding release/selection period and days - "working"/"non-working"/ "all"); loading of an individual profile (PROFILE – execution by the bidder of the position - the winner of the predicted hourly volumes of electric energy determined by the auction conditions, necessary to meet the needs of the initiator of the position); base load (BASE - execution within 24 hours a day). Participants can add their own draft sales contract to the position or be guided by the form proposed by UEEX.

In particular, until the end of this year, UEEX offers preferential conditions for participation in the section: a fixed monthly payment for participation in auctions will be 1 euro, and the payment for carrying out purchase and/or sale transactions will not be charged to the parties to the agreement.

"The start of organized electricity trade at the interstate level is a strategically important step for our energy industry. This creates new impulses for participants, allowing them to actively interact with European partners, form transparent prices, and also ensures greater competition, compared to the conclusion of over-the-counter foreign economic contracts", - commented the general director of UEEX Oleksandr Kovalenko.
