This week Naftogaz agreed to import 450 mcm of natural gas

Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC agreed on an additional supply of 450 mcm of natural gas for a stable heating season, the company's press service reports.

About 350 mcm will come from the Norwegian state company Equinor, and another 100 mcm will come from other European gas sellers authorized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"We have news on the front of energy diplomacy. I am glad to announce that we have agreed on the supply of almost half a billion cubic meters of gas," Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, said.

At the same time, Naftogaz adds that this year, Ukraine needs a little less than 2 bcm of gas to support electricity generation, which is suffering from constant hostile attacks from Russia.

"I am very pleased that we will be able to help supply Ukraine with natural gas during the winter in this emergency situation," added Helge Haugan, Senior Vice President of Gas and Power at Equinor.

As ExPro reported in ExPro Gas Daily, Naftogaz intends to start importing natural gas from Europe in January, the first planned volume is more than 7 mcm from Hungary, and the seller is RWE Supply&Trading.
