The world's largest energy companies store gas in the Ukrainian UGS - Chernyshov

The world's largest companies in the energy market, despite military challenges, store natural gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. This was announced by the head of Naftogaz, Oleksiy Chernyshov, without disclosing the names of the companies.

"Today, Ukraine has every chance to become the "power bank" of Europe. Considering the 87% capacity of gas storage facilities in the EU and the attractiveness of tariffs for storage in Ukrainian gas storage facilities, foreign customers of services are actively placing gas in our undergrounds," said Chernyshov.

Foreign traders can store natural gas in Ukraine without customs clearance for 3 years and freely re-export to gas storage facilities in other countries.

In general, this season, Ukrtransgaz JSC, which is the operator of Ukrainian gas storages and part of the Naftogaz Group, offers its customers more than 10 bcm of capacity for storing gas.

Chernyshov also reminded that Ukrainian underground services have one of the most attractive tariffs on the EU energy market, which are guaranteed to remain unchanged until the end of the withdrawal season.

According to ExPro calculations, as of August 8, more than 12.75 bcm of natural gas are stored in Ukrainian gas storage facilities. About 1.15 bcm of natural gas are stored in the "customs warehouse" of Ukrainian UGS. Currently, natural gas is injected by both Ukrainian and foreign companies.
