The UEEX has begun publishing the Quarterly Base Load Electricity Price Index
The Ukrainian Energy Exchange has begun publishing the Quarterly Base Load Electricity Price Index (Q+1).
This was reported by the UEEX.
“The Ukrainian Energy Exchange has presented the BCM price index to the market, which reflects the price of base load electricity in the IPS of Ukraine for the next quarter (Q+1). The index value is formed during the previous settlement quarter based on the weighted average prices of electricity of the base load for the supply period, covering the full calendar quarter Q+1”, - the statement reads.
“Wholesale electricity prices are determined by a large number of factors. Quarterly changes are most often driven by shifts in the balance of supply and demand. Thus, the quarterly index can be a useful tool for tracking changes and determining general trends,” - commented on the launch of the index, Oleksandr Kovalenko, CEO of UEEX LLC.
Due to UEEX, for the first quarter of 2022, the index value was fixed at UAH 2,330.2/MWh (excl. VAT). The final value of the index is formed based on the results of the last trading day of the calendar quarter preceding the settlement one.
