The Sudzha gas metering station on the Russian-Ukrainian border was damaged

The Sudzha gas metering station on the Russian-Ukrainian border, one of the entry points for Russian gas into the Ukrainian gas transportation system, was damaged late on Thursday, March 20. This is evidenced by numerous photos and videos from the site.

The Sudzha gas interconnector was the last route through which Russian natural gas was delivered to Europe via the Ukrainian GTS. After the expiration of the gas transit contract on January 1, 2025, the transportation of natural gas through Sudzha stopped.

Another point, the Sohranivka gas distribution station, was closed in 2022 because the Ukrainian GTS Operator declared force majeure, having no access to it after the Russian occupation of part of the Luhansk region.

There is currently no official confirmation of damage or attacks on the Sudzha gas metering station. Nevertheless, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of attacking and violating the ceasefire.
