The SSU exposed a gas trader who could disrupt the heating season in Dnipropetrovsk region

The security service exposed a large-scale scheme of misappropriation of money from Naftogaz of Ukraine by a private gas trading company. The perpetrators caused damage to the state company in the amount of over UAH 37 million and could also disrupt the heating season in the Dnipropetrovsk region in 2020-2021, reports the SSU press service.

The top management of the capital's gas trader enterprise is involved in the organization of the equipment. According to the SSU, in 2020 this company from Kyiv concluded an agreement with one of the heat-generating enterprises of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Currently, it is not known which company was exposed.

Despite the terms of the contract, in mid-February 2021, this company completely stopped supplying gas to the region. The state intervened in the situation since the guarantor of an uninterrupted heat supply to the population is the government. Thus, gas for heating the Dnipropetrovsk region was taken from the Naftogaz resource.

However, Naftogaz did not receive funds for this. As a result of the private company's use of unreliable information in official documents, all the money from the Dnipropetrovsk heat generating enterprise went to the capital company's accounts. Later, the officials of this structure legalized the funds through controlled commercial structures.

Based on the collected evidence, the law enforcement officers notified the director, commercial director, and legal advisor of the gas trading company, as well as their accomplice of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
