The export of pipeline gas from Norway in December hit a record - 11.1 bcm
Pipeline gas exports from Norway in December 2023 broke a historical record and reached 11.1 bcm, which is 200 mcm more than the previous record in 2017, Reuters reports.
In total, Gassco delivered 109.1 bcm of gas through its 8,800 km long pipeline network in 2023, which is 6.7% less than in 2022.
This decrease is due to long-term repairs at export facilities in the country. Pipeline deliveries to Europe were down 6.4% from January to August, and natural gas production in Norway hit a four-year low in September.
Deliveries to Germany in 2023 rose to an all-time high of 56.2 bcm from 55.6 bcm a year earlier. The increase was due to the new connection with Denmark, which allowed to increase in the overall supply capacity.
Exports to France fell by 22.5% to 13.8 bcm, while deliveries to Belgium fell by 3.8% to 15 bcm, Gassco reported.
