The 6th package of EU sanctions against Russia may include an oil embargo

The European Union is preparing a sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in connection with the Russian invasion into Ukraine. The new package of sanctions could include an oil embargo or at least some restrictions on oil imports from Russia. This was announced by several European politicians, including Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.

Foreign Minister Simon Cowney also confirmed that the European Commission is working on the details of the oil embargo against Russia, but no final decision has been made yet. According to foreign media, Germany opposes an immediate embargo, which delays the process.

The Office of the President of Ukraine said that they had discussed proposals from the state for 6 packages of EU sanctions against Russia.
