Sanzhar Zharkeshov headed the Gas Field Exploration and Development in UGV

Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC appointed Sanzhar Zharkeshov the Deputy Head of Exploration and Production. This is reported by the press service of Ukrgasvydobuvannya (UGV). Zharkeshov has experience in implementing oil and gas projects in 17 countries and will be responsible for the exploration and development of gas fields.

“Increasing the resource base is defined by our shareholder as one of the strategic priorities of the Naftogaz Group. As we continue to transform the company, we are bringing the gas field exploration and development function to the Group level thus concentrating more management and financial resources on it. Our ambition is to bring this function of Naftogaz to world level. The appointment of Sanzhar Zharkeshov, who has experience working with leading international and national oil and gas companies, will contribute to this,” Otto Waterlander, Executive Director for Transformation of Naftogaz said.

Sanzhar Serikbayevich worked for 6 years in the divisions of Exxon Mobil, where he gained production experience in research and field development on land and offshore in Kazakhstan, Iraq and the United States. In 2014, on Sakhalin, he managed the project of drilling a well with a depth world-record of 13 thousand meters. He developed and implemented strategic projects for such companies as Shell, Chevron, Ecopetrol, Gazpromneft, Wintershall DEA and the like. Prior to his appointment to Naftogaz, he served as Vice-Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Company Kazgeologia, where he managed the geological industry of Kazakhstan.
