Russians shelled the infrastructure of one of the UGS facilities, the system is stable - Naftogaz

During an early morning attack on March 24, Russians shelled the infrastructure of one of the underground gas storage facilities (UGS) in western Ukraine. This was reported by the head of the Naftogaz Group, Oleksiy Chernyshev.

According to Chernyshev, the enemy attack damaged the ground infrastructure of one of the storage facilities, but there were no critical consequences.

"The attack will not affect the natural gas supply to Ukrainian consumers. All nominations of customers for storage services and booking capacity continue to be fulfilled in full. The situation is under the control of our specialists and all involved services," Chernyshov said.

Naftogaz notes that work is currently underway to localize and eliminate the consequences in accordance with the scenarios of the Emergency Localization and Response Plan.

Underground gas storage facilities are provided with backup capacities, so Naftogaz adds that there will be no interruptions in the system's operation during the restoration of damaged parts of the infrastructure.
