Russian LNG in Asia sold without discounts – Bloomberg

Russian LNG is no longer being sold at discounts in Asia, indicating fears from buyers over sanctions or reputational damage are subsiding, Bloomberg reports.

Sakhalin Energy sold three LNG cargoes last week with a December loading period at roughly current market prices, with one of them even at a premium. For comparison, several cargoes were being offloaded in September at a deep discount to the spot price at the time.

Currently, there are no direct sanctions on Russian LNG due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, and exports grew to almost record levels last month. While Japan and South Korea stopped buying additional spot supplies from Russia at the beginning of the year, China only increased its purchases.
