Rengy Development and the Starokostyantynivsky Dairy Plant signed the first cPPA in Ukraine

The Rengy Development company and "Starokostyantynivsky Dairy Plant" signed a corporate contract for the supply of electricity from the solar power plant under the cPPA (Corporate Power Purchase Agreement) model. This was reported in the energy company.

As noted in Rengy, according to information available in public sources, this is the first such agreement in Ukraine. According to the contract, about 20% of the electricity consumed by SDP will be provided by one of Rengy Development's 1 MW solar power plants. In the summer months, the indicator of providing solar energy will reach 30%. The rest of the company's energy needs will be provided by the energy trader Renergy, it will also buy surplus generation from the SDP in cases where the company for some reason cannot consume all the electricity produced by the SPP.

"For us, as a power generation company, cPPA terms are more favorable than supplying electricity to the general power grid. The contract guarantees us the predicted consumption of the entire volume of generated energy, investments in such a SPP are less risky," commented the director of Rengy Development, Andriy Yaroshenko.

At current market prices, the construction of a new own SPP of this size would cost the company about $450,000.

"We are very fortunate that Rengy Development has volunteered to build a solar power plant next to us and connect it to our capacity without any investment from our side. Otherwise, in order to achieve such savings and "greening" of our final products, we would have to make significant investments. But it cost us almost nothing," adds Valery Zhuk, First Deputy General Director of the SDP.
