QatarEnergy has ordered 18 of the largest LNG tankers in history from CSSC

QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) to build 18 ultra-modern QC-Max LNG carriers, a significant addition to its historic LNG fleet expansion program.

The new vessels, with a capacity of 271,000 cubic meters of LNG (over 158 mcm of gas), will be built at China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard, a subsidiary of CSSC, and will be equipped with the latest technological innovations and environmental performance.

According to Saad Sherid Al-Kaabi, Minister of Energy, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, this is the largest single shipbuilding contract worth almost $6 billion.
