Polish PGNiG may increase gas supplies to Ukraine

Polish state-owned gas company PGNiG may provide additional supplies of natural gas to Ukraine as Kyiv is fighting Russian invasion, PGNiG's CEO has announced.

"The Ukrainian operator has asked PGNiG for an offer for gas supplies... we are currently discussing additional gas supplies from Poland to Ukraine," Paweł Majewski told but declined to offer details of the trade talks.

He added that PGNiG had been trading gas with Ukraine for several years and recalled that in February PGNiG sold a cargo of US LNG to ERU in Ukraine.

Majewski noted that the current gas interconnection from Poland to Ukraine allows the transmission of 1.5 bcm of natural gas per year, these quantities are not able to meet the needs of Ukraine.
