ORLEN expands RES portfolio in Poland

ORLEN Group has acquired two solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants and a wind farm, increasing its capacity of renewable energy facilities by more than 300 MW. ORLEN Wind 3, a subsidiary of the ORLEN Group, has completed an agreement with EDP Renewables Polska, local media reported.

The agreement includes two solar power plants located in the provinces of Zielona Góra and Poznań, and a wind farm in the province of Łódź. Thus, ORLEN Group's total installed capacity in onshore wind farms reaches 580 MW, and in solar projects - more than 350 MW.

According to forecasts, the new assets will produce 400 GWh of electricity per year.

The 26 MW Warta onshore wind farm in the Łódź region started operations in May 2023. And the 40 MW solar farm in Zielona Góra was commissioned in January 2024. The second SPP project, with a capacity of 240 MW, will be completed at the end of this year.
